As DJs, we spend so much time learning how to play music, but I think understanding and taking care of our own equipment is also part of the craft.

One of the most common problems with turntables is when sound only comes out from one side (left or right channel).

Before sending it off for repair, here are a few things you can check:

① Replace your needle
② Clean the headshell connector with a cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol
③ Try plugging the RCA cables into another channel on your mixer, or test with a different mixer

➡️ If none of those solve the problem, there is a good chance the RCA cable itself needs to be replaced.

This issue happens often, especially for DJs who travel with turntables, move equipment around, or constantly plug and unplug cables.

Sending your turntable away for repair can take weeks, and sometimes the fix is actually something you can learn to do yourself.

I’ve been repairing and maintaining my own turntables for years. There’s something special about understanding the tools you use every day.

Recently, one of the turntables at my restaurant broke, so I used the opportunity to teach my friend how to fix it.

This video was originally just me casually teaching her, so it’s not a perfect tutorial. It’s just a real moment of passing down something I learned through years of DJing.

DJって音楽をかける技術だけではなく、自分が使う機材を理解して、大切にメンテナンスすることも大事なスキルのひとつだと思っています。

ターンテーブルでよくあるトラブルのひとつが、

「片方のチャンネルからしか音が出ない」

という現象。

修理に出す前に、まず試してほしいこと👇

① 針を交換してみる
② 綿棒と無水エタノールでヘッドシェルの接続部分を掃除してみる
③ RCAケーブルを別のチャンネルに差してみる、もしくは違うミキサーで確認してみる

➡️ それでも直らなければ、RCAケーブル自体が原因の可能性があります。

ターンテーブルを移動したり、現場で何度もケーブルを抜き差しする私たちDJには、実はよくあるトラブル。

でも修理に出すと何週間も戻ってこなくて困ることもありますよね。

だからこそ、自分の道具を自分で理解して直せるようになることも、DJとして大切だと思っています。

最近お店のターンテーブルが壊れたので、せっかくなので 友達に直し方を伝授。

もともと彼女に教えるために撮っていたので、話し方も作業もかなりカジュアルな動画ですが、リアルなDJの知識共有として誰かの役に立てば嬉しいです🎵

Razor clams are long, narrow shellfish that live buried vertically under the sand. Unlike regular clam digging, finding them requires a very unique technique.

First, you search for tiny holes in the sand.

Then you sprinkle a little salt into the hole.

And then…

A few seconds later, the razor clam suddenly pops out like,

“Wait… what’s happening?!”

That’s your moment.

Grab it before it disappears back into the sand.

Probably one of the most satisfying things I’ve done in my life! We got about 2kg of clams in 1.5 hours.

この前、マテ貝の潮干狩りに行ってきました。

マテ貝（razor clam）は、細長い形をした二枚貝で、砂浜の中に縦に潜って暮らしています。

普通の貝みたいにただ砂を掘って探すのではなく、マテ貝には少し変わった捕まえ方があります。

まず砂浜に小さな穴を見つける。

そこに塩を少し入れる。

すると…

数秒後、マテ貝が「何が起きた!?」という感じで砂の中から顔を出します。

その瞬間を逃さずキャッチ。

世界中を旅していて思うのは、その土地の文化を知る一番早い方法は「食」を追いかけること

高級な料理だけじゃなくて、こういう昔から続いている小さな知恵の中にこそ、人と自然の関係が詰まっている気がします。

ただの潮干狩りだと思って行ったら、小さな砂浜でまた一つ新しい世界を発見しました。

When I booked my trip to Mongolia, I thought I knew what June meant.

Summer.
Warm weather.
Easy packing.

I was wrong.

Mongolia quickly reminded me that seasons don’t follow the same rules everywhere. My friend Masia One and I were humbled!

Sometimes the best journeys are the ones you are completely unprepared for.

6月のモンゴル。こんなに寒いなんて聞いてない!

モンゴルに行くと決めた時、完全に油断していました。

だって6月だし、頭の中ではもう夏。

暖かい日差し、軽い服装、気持ちいい草原の風。

…のはずだった。

でもモンゴルに着いてすぐに思い知らされました。

「季節」は世界共通じゃない。

準備万端の旅もいいけど、予想外の出来事がある旅ほど、記憶に残るのかもしれない。合流したMasia Oneも旅慣れているはずなのに、同じように水着を持ってきてました。

モンゴル、完全に甘く見てました。

But I learned they’re much more than accessories.

In Mongolian culture, the hat (malgai) carries deep meaning. The head is traditionally seen as one of the most sacred parts of the body, connected to a person’s spirit, dignity, and energy.

In Mongolian culture, especially influenced by traditional nomadic customs and Buddhist beliefs, the head is considered the highest and most respected part of the body. Many people believe a person’s spirit, fortune, or life energy is connected to the head, which is one reason hats are treated with respect.

You don’t casually touch someone’s hat, throw it on the ground, or step over it. A hat is not just clothing. It protects the most sacred part of you.

帽子を探しているなら…モンゴルは最高の場所🇲🇳

でも、ここで知ったのは、帽子はただのファッションアイテムではないということ。

モンゴル文化において、帽子（マルガイ malgai）には深い意味があります。

伝統的な遊牧文化や仏教の影響もあり、頭は人間の体の中で最も高く、神聖で大切な部分と考えられてきました。

人の精神、尊厳、運、そして生命のエネルギーが宿る場所とも信じられていて、だからこそ頭を守る帽子も特別な存在として扱われています。

帽子を床に投げたり、踏み越えたり、人の帽子をむやみに触ったりしない。

帽子はただ頭を覆うものではなく、その人の大切なものを守る存在。

モンゴルの帽子には、一つひとつに文化と歴史が込められていました。

コテージに泊まってた時、急に体に違和感。

寒いし、だるいし、頭もぼーっとして…

「なんかおかしいな？」って思ってたら

突然50 Centの曲が流れてきた。

私：

うん。確かに誕生日。

どうやら蚊も覚えててくれたらしい🦟🎂

It was called a “Gerege.”

Often referred to as one of the earliest forms of a passport, the Gerege was a metal tablet used during the Mongol Empire.

Today, we take it for granted that we can hold a passport, cross borders, board airplanes, and experience different cultures around the world.

But back in the 13th century, long before the world looked the way it does today, the Mongol Empire had already created a system that allowed people, information, and culture to move across incredible distances.

The Gerege was given by the Khan to messengers, officials, and trusted individuals as proof of their authority.

Those who carried it were able to travel across the vast empire and receive support along the way, including horses, food, and shelter.

But what fascinated me was that it wasn’t just a travel document.

It represented trust.

It was a message that said: “This person has a purpose. Let them pass.”

That idea really moved me.

Because when I look back at my own life, everything has been shaped by movement.

Traveling to unknown cities through music, meeting people I would have never crossed paths with, discovering new cultures, and bringing those experiences back with me.

It made me realize that even 800 years ago, humans had the same desire we have today:

To connect.

Our passports now have photos, numbers, and stamps.

But maybe the true meaning behind them hasn’t changed.

“Who are you?”
“Where do you come from?”
“What are you here to share with the world?”

The Gerege wasn’t just permission to travel.

It was a key that allowed people, stories, and cultures to move beyond borders.

Looking at that small piece of metal, I felt connected to something much bigger.

The timeless human curiosity to explore the unknown.

Also, there is a necklace of the “Gerege” in real gold and it is on my top wishlist!!!

モンゴルを訪れた時、Genghis Khan Museumでひとつの小さな金属の札の前で足が止まった。

名前は「Gerege（ゲレゲ）」。

“世界初のパスポート”とも呼ばれるものだった。

今では当たり前のようにパスポートを持って国境を越え、飛行機に乗り、違う文化に触れることができる。

でも、まだ国という概念も今とはまったく違っていた13世紀、モンゴル帝国にはすでに「人が安全に移動し、情報や文化を運ぶための仕組み」が存在していた。

Geregeは、モンゴル帝国のハーンから使者や役人に与えられた身分証明の札。

これを持つ者は、広大な帝国内を移動する権限を認められ、各地で馬や食料、宿などのサポートを受けることができたと言われている。

ただの通行証ではなく、「この人を信頼し、通しなさい」という証。

その考え方にすごく感動した。

なぜなら、私自身もずっと「移動すること」で人生が作られてきたから！

音楽を通して国を越え、知らない街へ行き、知らない人と出会い、そこからまた新しい文化やアイデアが生まれる。

800年前も、人は同じように世界を繋げようとしていたんだと思うと、不思議な気持ちになった。

今、私たちのパスポートには写真や番号が入っている。

でも本質はきっと変わらないのかと。

「あなたは誰なのか」
「どこから来て、何を届ける人なのか」

Geregeは、ただ移動を許すものではなく、人と人、文化と文化を繋ぐための鍵だったのかもしれない。
